Free To Fly
Free to Fly is Erwin's first single and completed original song. April wrote it as a gift to her brother, Levi, and his fiancé, Jenni. Levi is adopted and full Native American Indian. To honor that heritage as well as their own Native American roots, April and Angel worked with Phil Rogers of Air Digital to create a unique, native inspired sound. To complete the project, Duane Walking Turtle sang a Sioux Sun song often used in marriages. This was woven in to both the intro and bridge of the song.
When the family all crowded into the studio sound booth to hear the rough mix of the song for the first time, my niece, who was just about two, added her own little wolf howl at the end of the song. It wasn't in the recording; she just knew it needed to be there. So we added it later. The wolf closes the song and it's very fitting. We used imagery and sounds from animals that are known to mate for life. That was important to us because that represents Levi and Jenni's relationship very well.

Many thanks to Phil Rogers, Lesa Monet, and Duane
Walking Turtle for all of their help and enthusiasm on this project.
Thanks to our family and friends, we love you. But most of all
thank you Jesus. It was only by the touch of Your hand that we
were able to accomplish all these things. You are the reason we do this. Your
love and grace has made us all Free To Fly.
The Lyrics:
He was the strong and silent type
She was his perfect vision
And the pieces of their hearts
Fit together with perfection.
He loves to hear her laughter
She loves to see him smile
And hand in hand they’ll be walking
Across the many miles
Love has given them wings to fly
To lift them way up high
And it’s love that frees their souls
When most of us would cry
And love is what they’ll have
Until the day they die.
‘Cause love has given them wings
And now they’re free … free to fly.
He writes romantic letters
About the way she makes him feel.
And when he takes her by the hand
Then she knows his love is real.
When he looks into her eyes
He sees love that isn’t blind
But a heart that offers freedom
From the chains that bind.
Love has given them wings to fly
To lift them way up high
And it’s love that frees their souls
When most of us would cry
And love is what they’ll have
Until the day they die.
‘Cause love has given them wings
And now they’re free … free to fly.
Finding shelter from on high
And riding the wind
Always flying together
Free to the end.
Love has given them wings to fly
To lift them way up high
And it’s love that frees their souls
When most of us would cry
And love is what they’ll have
Until the day they die.
Cause love has given them wings
And now they’re free …
Love has given them wings to fly
To lift them way up high
And it’s love that frees their souls
When most of us would cry
And love is what they’ll have
Until the day they die.
‘Cause love has given them wings
And now they’re free … free to fly.
Rain On Me
Rain on Me is Erwin's second original single. We were quite excited to work with the very talented Michael Barrett on this project. He's a fantastic musician with a real heart for God. Best of all he 'heard' so much of what we wanted for this song on his own. His vision matched ours so well, I can only say that God must have had a plan for this to all come together so smoothly. We hope it touches you the way it did us as we put it together.
Rain on Me also found us working with a new studio. Andy Oxman, owner of Soundworks Studio in Blue Springs, Missouri came highly recomended by Mike. Once we met him we knew why Mike loved recording with him. Andy is also incredibly talented and one of the nicest people we've worked with. We have several other projects in the works with him now.
In the Studio:
Andy Oxman, owner of Soundworks Studio, Sound Wizard and all around great guy.

Angel and April Erwin, recording at Soundworks Studio.

The Lyrics:
I’ve known nothing in my life
But loneliness and sorrow
Every second full of pain
Only empty tomorrows
Cry me tears of sympathy
Break the dam inside your heart
Let a river of tears flow
Water a soul that’s parched.
My soul is so thirsty
Won’t you rain on me
Open up the heavens
Let it pour on me
Please rain on me
Please rain on me.
Thunderclouds are forming
And lightening splits the dark
Smell the fragrance of the rain
As it looks to make it’s mark
Looming there in front of you
Looks like hope has found it’s way
As the moisture feeds your soul
Know that it’s a new day
My soul is so thirsty
Won’t you rain on me
Open up the heavens
Let it pour on me
Please rain on me
Please rain on me.
musical bridge
My soul is so thirsty
Won’t you rain on me
Open up the heavens
Let it pour on me
Please rain on me
Please rain on me.
Looming there in front of you
Looks like hope has found it’s way
As the moisture feeds your soul
Know that it’s a new day
It’s a new day
It’s a new day
So rain on me.
